Ice skating challenge at Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru- A platform to showcase ice skating talents!

Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru (PMJB) one of the largest regional
mall in Johor, will be hosting its inaugural ‘Johor Ice Skating Challenge 2019 (JISC)’ to be held from 12th- 13th July.

The competition boast the participation of 85 skaters from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand, providing them an opportunity to experience the challenges of international competitions.

The competition is organized by Blue Ice Skating Rink, the first and largest rink in the State of Johor, sized at approximately 45m x 25m (1,125 sqm) and is endorsed by Ice Skating Institute of Asia.

The Johor Ice Skating Challenge held over the weekend saw participations joining from around Asia.

Speaking at the event, Ms Selena Chua, Chief Executive Officer, Retail of WCT Malls said, “We are delighted to host the Johor Ice Skating Challenge 2019 – the first international winter sports competition to be held in Johor

The aim of the competition is to provide young athletes an avenue showcase their talents and polish their skills before they participate in various international competitions. This competition will also help in creating interest among other parents and children who come and watch these talented skaters, who we hope will eventually garner appreciation for
the sport.”

“We are thrilled to see the growing interest of ice-skating as a competitive sport and we believe that the Johor Ice Skating Challenge 2019 will further groom and nurture ice skating champions in Malaysia and Asia,” said Wiwin Salim, Competition Director, Ice Skating Institute Asia Limited.

There will be more than 20 categories in this competition that is divided in two groups, namely professional and amateur. Skilled participants and beginners between the ages of five to thirty will be participating in the challenge.

Judges include coaches who are highly experienced in ice hockey skating and figure skating. The competition will be judged in accordance with the Ice Sport Industry (ISI) Judging System from USA. The participants will be evaluated based on their technique, authenticity, perfection and presentation.

Chua added, “Through this challenge, we hope to foster a spirit of sportsmanship among the athletes and provide them with a platform to further strengthen their skills and talent.
